15th August 2009 The Friends of King George's Playing Fields, Eastern Avenue, Romford had a community fun day on Saturday 15th August, there were many stalls and games for visitors to sample, also present were the local community officers with their stand giving advice on crime prevention, we were lucky to have two of area police dogs and their handlers, all the officers were later challenged to a tug of war, the result was 3 to the "Friends" 1 to the police.

Our park has been awarded a £25,000 grant to improve the facilities, we had hoped to use this over the coming months, however this month we were advised that this has been reduced to £20,000, in case it is reduced further we have decided to go ahead and ask LBH to purchase immediately further picnic tables, benches and seniors sports equipment. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 12th August 2009
